Success Stories

The following properties have made substantial progress in cleaning up their properties and currently meet the city's codes. Therefore, we have been able to remove their properties from the NOLA East Top Blighted Property List. We stand with the community and applaud the progress made by these property owners.

Status: Cleanup of the site initiated; fence installed to secure potion of the property as a result of correspondence and meetings with developer. No action has been taken by the city with regard to code violations.

Owner: Ochsner Clinic Foundation
Address: 6800 Plaza Drive

Status: Ochsner committed to NOLA East Clean Sweep to secure the property. The windows and doors have been board up and painted dark color to appear occupied from the street; a perimeter fence has been installed to secure property. Plans are to build a healthcare clinic at site with no specific timelines for completion. Property owner was found in violations of nuisance and blight codes on 9/16/12 and fined $500 for the month; penalties of $500 per day after one month were also invoked if property is not demolished or brought up to code.

Status: Whitney reported to NOLA Clean Sweep that bank plans to build new branch building at site to begin design and construction in 2012 to be completed in 2013
